Heery and Salmon (2000) identify a connection between globalization and the ‘insecurity thesis’, a belief that: ‘Employment in the developed economies has become more insecure or unstable in the sense that both continued employment and the level of remuneration have become less predictable and contingent on factors which lie beyond the employee’s control.’
